My mother is German so I grew up eating German meals most nights. Rouladen was the one dish that always stuck out as the tastiest one. You pound out meat flat and stuff it with onions, mustard, and pickles. The meat is then braised in beer and beef broth. It's a hearty meal an the pickles and mustard give it an interesting flavor that you don't normally get in American food.
